BIOGRAMS OF THE MEMBERS OF THE POLISH PATENT OFFICE’s MANAGEMENT

 Dr Alicja Adamczak - President

Born 14.07.1949 in Dwikozy, Poland. She graduated from the Law and Administration Faculty at University of Warsaw where in 1996 she defended her doctoral thesis "Role of a Patent Agent in Processing of a Patent”. She also finished a judge’s training. She is a patent attorney, a legal advisor and a research worker at TechnicalUniversity in Kielce. During two terms of office she acted as President of the Polish Chamber of Patent Attorneys and at the same time as Chairwoman of the National Council of Patent Attorneys. She co-organized the Council of Patent Attorneys of High Schools and initiated the establishment of the Forum of the Polish Community attached to the Polish Chamber of Patent Attorneys. She participated in legislative works on bills of the Act – Industrial Property Law, as well as of the law on patent attorneys. She is a member of many national and international organizations and associations, engaged in the protection of intellectual and industrial property. She is an author of many publications in this field. For many years she was an editor-in-chief of a quarterly "A Patent Attorney". She is also an instructor in the Polish Scouting Association. She was decorated for her professional and social activity with an Officer’s Cross and with the award of honour "Merits for Inventive Activities". She was appointed the President of the Polish Patent Office from July 1, 2002. Her husband is a professor, Rector at Technical University in Kielce. Her son is a post-graduate student.

 Mr Andrzej Pyrża – Deputy President

Born 25.03.1948 in Kożuchów, Poland. In 1969 he graduated from the Law and Administration faculty at University of Warsaw. In the period 1969-1972 he worked in the People’s Regional Council in Warsaw and in the headquarters of the Polish Insurance Company. In the years 1972-1994 he was employed in the Polish Patent Office, successively as a senior specialist, head of a division and as a director of Law and Jurisdiction Department. In 1993, he obtained rights to act as a patent attorney. He is a co-author of a number of legal regulations in the field of industrial property protection. For many years he was an activist in a self-administration of patent attorneys. Among others, he acted as a vice-chairman of the National Council of Patent Attorneys. He lectures in the field of industrial property protection. He is an author of many publications in this scope, including a glossary to "The Law on Inventive Activity of 1993". He was decorated for achievements in his professional and social activity with an Officer’s Cross and twice with the Gold Cross of Merit. He was appointed to the post of Deputy President of the Polish Patent Office from July 15, 2002. He is married and has 2 grown-up sons.

 

 Mr Sławomir Wachowicz – Deputy President

Born 28.10.1948 in Sandomierz, Poland. In 1972 he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Technology at Technical University of Warsaw. In the same year he took on post in Tele- and Radio Engineering Institute, where he worked on implementation of technical innovations and on patent literature issues. After having finished a training course and passing an examination in the Patent Office, he obtained rights to act as a patent attorney. From 1980, he worked as head of a division in the Central Board of the Industrial Association "Chemak", and then in managerial positions in the companies of the power industry, where he worked mainly on the import and export of machines and technologies, including offers of projects performed within EU programmes, as well as for the needs of NATO. He attended numerous courses and conferences, connected with industrial property protection. He was appointed to the post of a Deputy President of the Polish Patent Office from February 23, 2004. He is married and has a grown-up daughter.
